Following the huge success of this year’s Get up to Speed with STEM: The Virtual Experience, the South Yorkshire based The Work-wise Foundation has announced that it will host both a live and digital event in 2022, bringing the employer-inspired science, technology, engineering, manufacturing (STEM) and construction spectacular to even more people.
This year’s Get up to Speed with STEM: The Virtual Experience saw more than 11,300 people, including 68 schools and 65 businesses plus young adults, parents and teachers taking part. Take a look at our event report here.
Staring 23rd March 2022, the The Work-wise Foundation is planning a live showcase at Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham, followed by the chance to gain more knowledge, insight and experience via the Get up to Speed Virtual platform.
Get up to Speed with STEM will feature over 100 exhibitions, plus a number of interactive zones, where young people can gain an insight into some of the UK’s best STEM-related businesses, innovations and technologies.
The online event, which will coincide with the showcase and run from 24th March for a limited time providing attendees with exclusive access to digital content. This includes virtual tours, demonstrations, career stories, inventions, company profiles and interviews, created by some of the UK’s leading STEM businesses.
John Barber, CEO of The Work-wise Foundation and Chair of the Get up to Speed Steering Group, comments: “Feedback for our online experience this year was fantastic, so we wanted to ensure that this digital element wasn’t lost. We cannot wait to bring the live Get up to Speed with STEM showcase back for 2022 and by combining both options, we’re not only able to extend the duration of the event, but also reach more young people across the country and enable them to explore what working in the STEM industries is all about.”
For over ten years, Get up to Speed has showcased STEM-related career opportunities to over 30,000 young people and their families from across the South Yorkshire region and beyond. Get up to Speed also gives companies the opportunity to showcase their services whilst helping to address the skills gap in STEM-related industries.
Get up to Speed with STEM 2022 is open to young people, families, individuals, schools and employers. For more details go to www.getuptospeed.org.uk/attend. For a list of this year’s virtual exhibitors, visit: https://www.getuptospeed.org.uk/sponsors-and-exhibitors/.
